Performs work in caring for mammals in the North American Prairie Exhibit. Maintains zoo facilities on an assigned shift. Performing training and enrichment. Provides customer service to zoo defined customers. Performs all tasks using zoo resources for measurable productivity.


Two years coursework from an accredited college or university or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Essential Job Functions:

Applicant should be competent and knowledgeable of animal science, behavior, nutrition, illness and reproduction. The principles and practices of zoo keeping including diet, housing exhibition and breeding of animals should be exhibited. Ability to observe, recognize and interpret normal and abnormal animal behavior. The successful applicant should have the ability to inspect animals and discern illness, injury or other disorders. Knowledge of the dangers and precautions to be taken in handling potentially dangerous animals will be required.
