Seasonal Ranch Hand/Interpreter

Primary duties include but not limited to farm animal care: daily raking and shoveling manure, carrying feed and hay, help with maintenance of pens, animal observations and recording data, mowing, weeding, watering, cleaning windows, dusting, grooming, care of hatchery, barns and grounds. Other duties include teaching visitors about the farm animals and native wildlife, bringing domestic animals out for visitor interactions. Supervise teen volunteers in the Zoo Alive program that may help with Ranch chores and visitor interaction. May help zookeepers occasionally with exotic animal care. Full time Seasonal position works April 14 to Aug 10, 2013.

Position requires being able to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs., have a valid Colorado Driver’s license and be insurable our insurance company to drive zoo vehicles. Pass employment physical, drug and background check. Work weekends and holidays with two weekdays off. Prefer animal handling experience, working with public and children, public speaking, and college degree. Email resume to or deliver it to the Pueblo Zoo, attention Marilyn McBirney.
