This position will be assigned to the Urban Jungle/Sun Bear Forest Mammal department at the San Diego Zoo and the outlined duties below will be performed under the general supervision of the area lead and under the guidance of the area keeper.

The desirable qualifications and essential job functions for a Mammal Exhibit Attendant include the following:

-Ability to accurately follow directions and protocols on a daily basis

-Knowledge of animal behavior and animal biology/zoology

-Animal care handling experience

-Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of exhibits/facilities

-Assist in daily diet preparations

-Reporting of observations pertaining to exhibit animals and exhibit conditions

-Ability to work with minimal supervision following provided directives

-Public speaking skills are desierable for educational purposes

-Data collection and record keeping skills are desirable

-Applicants must be willing to work in a team environment

-Green and conservation minded work practices are encouraged

Working conditions for this position include exposure to varying weather conditions, dust and allergens, ability to move moderate to heavy objects as well as the ability to work on uneven and slippery surfaces is required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Interested applicants must be available for work any of the seven days of the week. Scheduled hours will be approximately 24-40 hrs/wk.
