ADVENTURE CAMP SUMMER INTERN POSITION (UNPAID)
CALLING FUTURE EDUCATORS!
If you are currently pursuing an education or science degree and love working with kids, the Topeka Zoo is offering a truly exciting and unique summer internship with our Adventure Camp Program. Interns will have the opportunity to get their feet wet in environmental and conservation education by utilizing the zoo as an active, living classroom. During a 2 week training period, interns will learn how to give presentations, lead hands-on activities and complete a course on animal handling. Reflective of the Topeka Zoo’s small size, our program is flexible, offering many opportunities to personalize your experience. Did we mention, this could be an impressive resume booster?
Candidates must have completed one year of a college degree program in education, biology, animal science, zoology, or other related field. Candidates must also have excellent communication skills, enjoy working with children, and the ability to work in a team environment. We ask you to be self-motivated, reliable, prompt and able to work in all weather conditions. A negative TB test must also be provided. Internships are unpaid, require 35-40 hours per week, and a 9 week commitment beginning May 20th and ending July 19th. Dates are slightly flexible. Unfortunately, no housing is provided. 3 week extensions are possible. For questions, please see contact information below.
