Zookeeper (2 positions) – Carnivores (1 position) and Ungulates (1 position)

Both section responsibilities include, but are not limited to; working outdoors in a tropical climate, daily husbandry and maintenance of a variety of species, knowledge of species natural behavior and environment, training and enrichment activities, keeper talks, record keeping, working in other animal areas as needed and providing area maintenance in accordance with Zoo Miami and USDA guidelines.

*Carnivore team species include; Malayan tiger, African lion, Sloth bear, Asiatic Black bear, Sun bear, Spotted hyena, and African painted dog.

*Ungulate Conservation and Breeding Center / Quarantine; this position plays an integral role in Zoo Miami’s off exhibit ungulate shipping, receiving, and quarantine facility. It also includes areas to house rhino and antelope species.

The ideal candidate(s) will have a four year degree, a minimum three years taxonomically related animal experience, (preferably in an AZA accredited facility,) an established work ethic, quality customer service skills, and be a strong team member for the entire organization.

Minimum Qualifications – High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year paid zoological experience.

Positions are Full Time (hourly) local AFSCME open shop union with benefits. See website below for specific information.

Salary range: $28,500 - $43,800 (based on experience)
