The Georgia Aquarium's vision is "To be the World's Most Engaging Aquarium Experience!" The Georgia Aquarium is searching for an exceptionally talented and hardworking Associate Curator(Assistant Manager), in Acquisitions and Quarantine to join our team.
The Associate Curator will coordinate animal acquisitions as directed by the Director of Zoological Operations – Acquisition and Quarantine. Acquire fish, invertebrates, amphibians and reptiles by legal methods which include but are not limited to: purchase, trade, breeding loan and field collection. Manage the logistics for new acquisitions including shipping or other transportation, and initial holding space in the Quarantine Facilities. Assist the Zoological Operations supervisory team in all aspects of animal acquisitions including permits and licenses, collection logistics, staff travel plans, equipment purchase and maintenance, and animal transports. Serve as registrar of fish, invertebrates, amphibians and reptiles. Facilitate animal record keeping database (Tracks.) Perform as a Network Administrator of the Tracks System. Supervise staff during field activities. Coordinate daily operation of the Quarantine facility at the Georgia Aquarium or as assigned to off-site facility. Assist in the leadership of the Quarantine Team; help the staff to develop professionally to be productive, skilled and confident.
Requirements include bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field or equivalent experience. Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Zoological setting. At least 2 years in some supervisory role (Supervisor, Senior Aquarist/Keeper. Georgia CDL A or B, or the ability to obtain one. Ability to handle boats at least 30 feet LOA with multiple engines along with demonstrated skills in engine and boat maintenance.
