Willow Park Zoo has an immediate opportunity for an enthusiastic, dynamic leader to take over as Superintendent in the operation of the Willow Park Zoo in Logan, Utah. The position will coordinate staff responsibilities, including animal care and conservation education; perform responsible work  for all aspects of the health and overall well-being of the animal collection and provide a safe and enjoyable visitor experience; responsible for overseeing all medical records, treatments and work in conjunction with consulting veterinarian; develop standard operating protocols; manage expense and revenue budget; ensure compliance with & maintain all relevant and necessary federal and state wildlife permits; perform responsible supervisory work in the maintenance of zoo grounds and facilities;  work closely with zoo board to increase and improve fundraising events and seek out corporate sponsorships.  Responsibilities also include gift shop/admission operations, cash management, project management and planning.  The Superintendent will continue to build on efforts to follow the zoo’s master plan and achieve accreditation with AZA.  The Superintendent is responsible to the Willow Park Zoo Board of Directors.  


Requirements:  A combination of experience and education may be qualifying with preference given for a BS degree from an accredited college or university with a major in zoology, animal science, biology or related field.  Education and/or experience in business administration, and related management experience in the operation of a public zoological park, preferably an Association of Zoos & Aquariums accredited zoological park would also be advantageous. Candidate should possess AZA affiliations or ability to develop such.   

Salary has a starting base of $43,000 annually subject to negotiation. Excellent benefits are available. Application materials will be evaluated based on relevant training and experience and must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. MST August 31, 2012.
