Audubon Mississippi is a leading conservation organization in the region dedicated to Audubon’s mission to protect birds and other wildlife and the habitats that support them. Right now, we are seeking a dynamic and innovative State Executive Director to assume fund-raising, management and leadership responsibilities for our statewide programs and initiatives. The position may be based in either Jackson or Pascagoula, MS, or in Memphis, TN.
In this challenging role, you will be expected to increase the visibility of Audubon Mississippi by expanding our strong support base of donors and partners, leading all fund-raising activities, and assuming responsibility for the fiscal management of the state program. This will involve managing the current staff of 13 and an annual budget of $1.5 million. You will also analyze complex environmental and natural resource issues and identify positive, science-based solutions that can be successfully advocated. Position will involve routine travel throughout the state.
The successful candidate will be a persuasive communicator with the ability to work collaboratively and build coalitions with a wide range of individuals and groups. Candidates must possess demonstrated fund-raising experience; outstanding interpersonal and motivational skills; and a minimum of 5-7 years of experience with private, non-profit or public-sector organizations, which must include at least 3 years in a management-level role. The proven ability to implement successful conservation projects “on-the-ground” is essential. A Bachelor’s degree is required; advanced degree is strongly preferred.
