Supervises, trains, monitors and participates in the care of zoo animals, grounds and facilities. Prepares and maintains records for all aspects of animal management. Provides customer service to zoo-defined customers - Collections, Conservation, Contractors, Co-workers, Donors, Students, Professional Colleagues, Vendors, Visitors & Volunteers. Performs all tasks using zoo resources for measurable productivity.

Bachelors Degree from an accredited college university in Biology, Ecology, Wildlife Science or a related field or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required essential job functions.

Applicant should be competent and knowledgeable of animal science, behavior, nutrition, illness and reproduction. The principles and practices of zoo keeping including diet, housing exhibition and breeding of animals should be exhibited. Ability to supervise and train subordinates in the proper care and treatment of zoo animals. Ability to observe, recognize and interpret normal and abnormal animal behavior. The successful applicant should have the ability to inspect animals and discern illness, injury or other disorders. Knowledge of the dangers and precautions to be taken in handling potentially dangerous animals will be required.
