The Lincoln Children's Zoo is an enchanting ten acre oasis in Lincoln’s central Antelope Park, not far from downtown. On exhibit are 400 animals, of 100 species in settings specifically designed for a child’s engagement and delight. Using the latest research in early childhood education, we create exhibits that first fascinate, then excite, then teach. Discover a bone at Stego’s Big Dig, or hold a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach in Bug Buddies. We encourage learning through play in a setting that engages, not overwhelms, children and parents. Our Zoo encourages interaction, with opportunities to touch, climb, pet, dig, and feed. Guests will find both structured and unstructured play areas where imagination runs wild, and discovery is the most common event. Enjoy holding a hedgehog, feeding our camels or petting our goats. We believe that the sense of wonder which leads to stewardship is fostered through repeated, positive experiences with living things. With a relaxed, enjoyable, and safe environment, the Lincoln Children's Zoo has been captivating the hearts and imaginations of our city's youngest citizens and their families since opening in 1965.

A world-class facility in every sense of the word, the Henry Doorly Zoo, Lied Jungle and Scott Aquarium yearly attract more than a million visitors. The Lied Jungle is the world's largest indoor tropical rainforest. It encompasses three separate geographic zones. Visitors experience the sights, sounds and smells of the jungle as they meander through re-creations of Asian, African and South American rain forests.
A path along the jungle floor winds along streams and past waterfalls. An elevated walkway takes visitors through treetops and offers a glimpse of jungle wildlife including free ranging birds and primates, as well as reptiles and other mammals characteristic of jungle habitat. The 72,000 square-foot Scott Aquarium is one of the country's largest. Visitors can walk through a glass tunnel in a 850,000 gallon coral reef tank and view marine life -- including sharks and rays-- swimming all around them.
