Zebra Pen Corp., a global leader in the writing instrument industry, has partnered with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the Saint Louis Zoo to create www.LearnWithZoos.com, a teacher resource website dedicated to the conservation of animals. The site will provide educators with the tools they need to teach students the importance of preserving endangered species, and what they can do to help.
“We’ve been a proud supporter of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums for over two years,” said Ken Newman, Director of Marketing at Zebra Pen Corporation. “And given our close ties to the education community, creating a resource for teachers where they can learn about the AZA’s conservation initiatives, download lesson plans and purchase supplies for their classroom, seemed like an obvious fit.”
LearnWithZoos.com consists of materials about the AZA, including; a list of AZA-affiliated associations and organizations and AZA-Accredited Zoos and Aquariums. The site also features informational blogs, and Zebra Pen’s animal print product lines, which can be used in conjunction with the many lesson plans available for download. The Saint Louis Zoo provided lesson plans that focus on animal conservation and are designed for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Teachers can also submit their own lesson plans on animal conservation for consideration to be added to the site for future use.
“One of our key goals at the AZA is education,” said Jeff Dow, Director of Marketing at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, “when Zebra Pen came to us with the idea to create a teacher resource site, we were incredibly excited. Teaching our youth about animal conservation is an important step in preserving endangered wildlife.”
Visit www.LearnWithZoos.com for more information on how to incorporate these animal conservation plans into your school or classroom.
Founded in 1924, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of zoos and aquariums in the areas of conservation, animal welfare, education, science, and recreation. AZA is the accrediting body for the top zoos and aquariums in the United States and six other countries. Look for the AZA accreditation logo whenever you visit a zoo or aquarium as your assurance that you are supporting a facility dedicated to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for you, and a better future for all living things. The AZA is a leader in saving species and your link to helping animals all over the world. To learn more, visit www.aza.org.
