Celebrate Earth Day With Party For the Planet™!

Silver Spring, MD – More than 130 of the top zoos and aquariums accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) across North America are throwing the 9th Annual Party for the Planet™ – the largest combined Earth Day celebration in North America.

“Party For the Planet™ offers the perfect reason for families to visit their local AZA-accredited zoo and aquarium to honor wildlife this Earth Day,” said AZA President and CEO Jim Maddy. “We know the 180 million annual visitors to AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums have a strong interest in taking action to help protect the future of our planet and its inhabitants. Party For the Planet™ activities will help families learn what they can do to help preserve our planet and how the conservation work of AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums are helping to save wildlife species worldwide.”

AZA-accredited institutions spend $160 million annually in more than 100 countries on conservation projects, and have supported more than 1,000 field conservation and research projects over the past five years.

On Earth Day, April 22, and throughout the rest of the month, AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums across North America will host events to raise awareness about conservation, sustainable living and making our Earth a better place to live. Scheduled Party for the Planet™ events include live animal presentations, give-aways, crafts, keeper talks, environmental activities and much more!
