Environmental Education: Designing Effective Programs for Zoos & Aquariums aids zoo and aquarium educators in developing new informal environmental education programs or improving existing programs. Several resources are provided throughout this course based on three main areas of focus: EPA Environmental Priorities, NAAEE Guidelines for Excellence in Environmental Education, and target audiences from underserved populations. To help you best utilize the information and resources provided, you are given free reign within the course to pick and choose the Priorities, Guidelines, and target audiences that apply to your institution and programs. In the end, you will combine various learning points into an eeEcology Map that includes goals for a program, or future program, at your institution, which can help with the development of an Environmental Literacy Plan.

This online course was developed by AZA as part of the EECapacity Project, a consortium of partners led by Cornell University's Civic Ecology Lab and funded by a grant from the U.S Environmental Protection Agency.
