Largest Earth Day Party Connects People to Wildlife Conservation

Apr 5, 2013

Silver Spring, MD (April 5, 2013) – More than 120 of the top zoos and aquariums across North America are throwing the 7th Annual Party for the Planet™ – the largest combined Earth Day celebration in North America.

“Every year, zoos and aquariums accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) welcome more than 180 million visitors who have an interest in connecting with wildlife, learning about nature, and becoming involved in protecting the future of our Earth,” said AZA President & CEO Jim Maddy.  “By participating in the Party for the Planet™ at your local zoo or aquarium, you are making a difference by helping to support conservation locally and worldwide.”

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than with the planet’s amazing and diverse wildlife?  Local AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums are the perfect place to connect with nature and conservation in your community.

On Earth Day, April 22, and throughout the month of April, AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums across North America will host events to raise awareness about conservation, sustainable living, and making our Earth a better place to live.  Scheduled Party for the Planet™ events include live animal presentations, give-aways, crafts, keeper talks, environmental activities, and more!
