Apr 17, 2012

April 16, 2012 – Jacksonville, FL – The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens’ education department is excited to announce the opening of registration for 10 brand new summer camps that run June through August. This year’s Summer Zoo Camp offerings feature sessions for children ranging in age five through fifteen years old! Sessions cover everything from visiting and learning about our fine feathered friends, scaly or slimy reptiles and amphibians to unique animal behaviors. Camp participants will also explore plants and animals from different continents and learn about animals with amazing super powers and much more. Every Summer Zoo Camp features animal crafts, Zoo tours, and up-close and hands-on encounters with the Zoo’s Education Animal Ambassadors. All camps and dates are listed online at jacksonvillezoo.org. This year’s summer camps are sponsored by Outback Steakhouse. All children participating in the camps will receive a coupon for a free kid’s meal at Outback Steakhouse.

Camps start at $175 per camp per child for Zoo members and $200 per camp per child for non-Zoo members. Camps run Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Extended care is available from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Campers should register online at jacksonvillezoo.org.
