Aquarium Affairs Committee Mission

The mission of the AZA Aquarium Affairs Committee is to create a forum for aquarium leaders to advance the professional standards and practices of AZA aquariums through

  • Guidance and advocacy for AZA board policy related to aquatic issues
  • Reinforcement of the importance of aquariums as centers for marine education and conservation
  • Promotion of leadership opportunities and initiatives for aquarium personnel
  • Support and promotion of strategies to ensure sustainable collections, including aquatic TAGs, SSPs and managed programs
  • Exchange of best practices and strategies within and beyond the AZA aquarium community
  • Identification and recruitment of qualified aquariums for institutional membership.
