In 2001, the Felid Taxon Advisory Group (TAG) established the first Species Survival Plans® (SSPs) and Population Management Plans (PMPs), for small cats, selecting five imperiled species for SSPs (Brazilian ocelot, black-footed cat, fishing cat, Arabian sand cat, Pallas’ cat) and three less-threatened species for PMPs (serval, caracal, Canada lynx).
