The Animal Programs Internship Program is accepting applications for 2009 winter interns.
Interns work with our educators, to learn about environmental education, interpretation and guest relations as the Animal Programs Department encompasses all of those areas. Some of the responsibilities of interns include assisting with classroom and outreach programs, assisting with and leading public encounters, public interpretation at exhibits, involving public interactive activities and assisting in researching graphic and web-site information.
All internships are unpaid and interns are expected to work for a total of 480 hours. These hours may be met by working 5 days per week for 12 weeks or 4 days per week for 15 weeks. This can be flexible to work around school or job schedules. Housing is not provided.
Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age; lift 50 pounds; work both as a team and independently; self-starter with a positive attitude; ability to interact with the public; speak fluent English; considering a career in the environmental education field.
