Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time aquatics zookeeper position in the Herps and Aquatics department. This collection includes, but is not limited to, various elasmobranches, fresh and saltwater vertebrates and invertebrates, Komodo dragons, large crocodilians, venomous snakes and exotic amphibians. Zookeeper responsibilities include husbandry and care of animals in the aquatics area. Further responsibilities include public presentations, offsite collecting, assisting veterinary staff, record keeping and operation of utility vehicles. Applicant should have extensive experience maintaining filtration systems, water quality analysis, as well as husbandry requirements for both fresh and saltwater specimens. Must be SCUBA certified and have the ability to lift sixty pounds, move heavy objects and work outside in Florida temperatures. Starting salary for a Keeper I is $10.00 / hour. Salary may increase with experience.
