Note: This is a Temporary, Part-Time position; hours will be 3:45pm-5:45pm Monday - Friday. Interns are expected to work all assigned weeks unless specific days off are approved by the Zoo Camp director prior to employment.Summer Zoo Camp will run Monday through Friday from June 2, through August 15, 2014. Training will take place the week of May 27th. *No camp on Friday, July 4th.The goal of this internship is to learn and successfully perform (under supervision) the duties and responsibilities of a Zoo employee in the Education Department, which include the following:Assume all responsibility for supervision of the children who are enrolled in the After Care program.Prepare and organize materials needed for the After Care programCreate games, activities, and crafts for the After Care programBe responsible for cleaning and maintaining the After Care area.Supervising teen volunteers.Ensure the safety of campers, staff and guests at all times.Interacts with Zoo guests courteously and offers proper attention at all times.QUALIFICATIONS: College level coursework; education, environmental studies, biology, and/or zoology, preferred; ability to present information to groups; and experience working with young children required.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The San Francisco Zoo encourages bilingual candidates to apply.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
