Associate Animal Care Specialist

■Must be at least 18 years old

■College degree in Biology, Zoology, Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or related field preferred

■Robust communication skills: includes public speaking and guest relations, as well as efficient communication with team members

■Team-oriented; eager to learn and to give/receive constructive criticism

■Flexible, able to place daily animal welfare needs as a priority

■Hard-working, decisive, and able to handle multiple responsibilities and prioritize appropriately

■Positive attitude and the ability and desire to work in a dynamic, stimulating environment

■Self-disciplined and trustworthy; able to follow interaction and safety guidelines

■Keen observational skills

■Career-oriented, responsible for your own advancement within our progressive career ladder program

■Valid drivers license is required, as well as the ability to meet SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment's Driving Guidelines

■SCUBA certification preferred

■Able to work at least 40 hours a week, and must be available to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends and holidays, and occasional overnight shifts

■Ability to work in a physically demanding work environment in a variety of indoor and outdoor weather conditions (i.e. extreme heat, cold, rain). Able to stand, walk, lift, bend, and squat on a continual basis in order to accomplish husbandry tasks and maintain the animal habitat. Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly on a regular basis.

■Experience will be evaluated to place candidate in appropriate career-ladder level, title, and pay

Primary Responsibilities:

■Care, observation, and training of a large variety of African hoofstock species on large multi-species displays

■Daily cleaning and maintenance of large habitats, husbandry facilities, and holding facilities, including mowing, weed-trimming, raking, etc.

■Enthusiastically communicate with park guests

■Daily record keeping

Some heavy lifting required (up to 50 lbs. repeatedly), and lots of time spent outdoors in the Florida sunshine with our animals and guests
