Internship Positions Available

Eight paid intern positions are available for summer 2014 at the Bergen County Zoo Education Department, 216 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652. Position requires ability to work well with children aged 5 to 15, handling small animals, presenting shows to the general public, leading small groups in a classroom setting, and touring visitors through the 13 acre zoo.

Applicants should be eager and motivated to learn and have good communication skills, time management skills, organizational skills, and patience to work with young children and small animals. Hours include but are not limited to 4 work days from 8:30 to 4:30 and one half day from 8:30 to 1:00; it may be required to work some nights and weekends. You will be required to make a commitment to a minimum of three weeks of training from June 2rd to June 20st and eight weeks of camp/program work from June 23th to August 15th. Again, a commitment to the full 11 week training and camp period is a requirement.

Applicants should have experience working with children. Likewise experience handling small animals is a plus, but training will be provided. All applicants must show proof of NJ residency, pass a Bergen County drug screening, and background check.
