Herpetology Internship (unpaid)

The HIIZ Intern will assist ASDM Keepers with projects related to the care & feeding of animals in the HIIZ collection; the collection consists of amphibians, reptiles, fish and invertebrates.

This is an unpaid position and there is no housing provided. For school credit, check with your adviser regarding the requirements of your college.

Interns must be flexible with their schedules and be able to work 16 - 24 hours per week; some weekends and holidays may be required during the following terms:

Fall (September – December).

Internship duties include (but are not limited to): daily observation, cleaning exhibits/enclosures, preparing animal diets, implementing animal enrichment, observing vet care, participating in educational opportunities, and preparing/presenting an approved project (of interns choice).

Applicants must currently be enrolled in, or have recently graduated from a college or university; they must also have completed at least one year of course work in a related field of study. Applicants should be physically capable of performing the job tasks mandatory for working with animals.

Interns will benefit from this internship by broadening their education and developing professional experience while working in an AZA accredited, non-profit museum setting. Interns will learn valuable skills related to animal husbandry, veterinary care, and diet preparation.
