This internship is seasonal from January 2014 through May 2014, working part time (approximately 15-20 hours per week). The right candidate must be willing to work occasional evening shifts, one or more weekend days, and make a firm commitment to work three to five days per week from January 2, 2014 - Memorial Day weekend 2014 (May).

SUMMARY: Assists Animal Division and Education staff with programming associated with spring activities at the Zoo. For spring 2014, Interns will provide interpretive support in the "Scoop on Poop" exhibit. May be utilized for additional on or offsite program elements that share the mission of the San Francisco Zoo.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Will provide formal presentations in the "Scoop on Poop" exhibit

May represent the Zoo at community events and present the "roadshow" along with Education or ARC staff.

Will provide relief coverage for Education interns if needed.

Interacts with Zoo guests courteously and offers proper attention at all times.

Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidates for the position will possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A candidate that has completed some coursework in biology, zoology, ecology, or a related area is preferred. The candidate must be in good physical condition and capable of standing for the duration of normal work shifts. The candidate must have good organizational skills and exceptional people skills, including the ability to communicate well with zoo visitors of all ages.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

EXPERIENCE: Public speaking and interactions.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum age requirement is 18 years.

SALARY: $10.74 PER HOUR.
