The Smithsonian’s National Zoological Park is soliciting qualified applicants as the Curator of Amazonia, American Trail and Aquatic Environments. We are seeking an experienced leader to: build and direct an aquatic environments operations team to include leading and supervising a diverse workforce of biologists, animal keepers, interns and volunteers in the exhibition and progressive husbandry of exotic and native animals; lead an animal care unit in developing concepts, setting of goals, planning and implementing long (visioning) and short term (daily basis) animal care; plan and oversee the development and continuance of exhibits for living collections including aquatic life support systems, major renovations, preventative maintenance and the preservation of facilities; and to perform relevant research and lead in the promotion, technical guidance and supervision of research with staff and collaborators (including the ability to publish research).
