Adjunct Assistant Professor, Zoo Animal Technology

Hourly Rate: Based on current Salary Schedule and Experience

Location: The Teaching Zoo, Northwest Campus

Overview: The Zoo Animal Technology program hires part-time instructors to complement its permanent staff and to serve fluctuations in student enrollment. This is not a permanent position and those serving in this way often move on to positions elsewhere, resulting in frequent turnover and new opportunities.

Responsibilities and duties may include:

• Preparation, teaching and evaluation of students in lecture courses

• Supervision and evaluation in the teaching laboratory

• Training of specific skills geared to zookeeping including, but not limited to: cleaning, sanitation, restraint, handling, diet preparation, feeding, animal observation and behavior, operant conditioning, safe zoo practices, and guest interactions.

Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in one of the biological sciences and experience in the field or the AS degree in Zoo Animal Technology and at least four years of experience in the Zoo Field. A background check will be conducted.
