SUMMARY STATEMENT: Assist the other Interpretation staff in providing hands-on, inquiry and design-based learning experiences in the Exhibit Halls. Help school groups explore the exhibits by providing guidance with exhibit components and offering access to tools, artifacts, and other pocket props that will enhance their experience and help them make meaningful connections. Engage all visitors in hands-on activities that encourage them to use the skills of scientific inquiry, engineering design, and mathematics. Assist in the daily operation of the Interpreter Program including training, supervising, and mentoring volunteers and maintaining a collection of over 80 activities. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Interpret in the exhibit halls 2-4 hours/day• Assist in the development of new interpretations • Assist with maintaining the interpretation activity materials• Assist in the training of volunteers WORK SCHEDULE: This position is temporary, part-time, 14 hours/week, on any two days between Tuesday and Friday through May 30, 2014. REPORTS TO: Director, Visitor Programs QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelors of Science or Arts degree preferred. • More than 1 year, but less than 3 years of relevant teaching experience. • Interest in Science, Engineering, and Education.• Electronic and shop fabrication, troubleshooting, and repair skills preferred.STARTING SALARY: Non-Exempt (Hourly). Commensurate with experience.
