Audubon Zoo in New Orleans is seeking applicants for internships in the Children’s Zoo area for Fall/Winter 2013/2014. We have an eclectic collection of animals which includes over 50 different species of hoof stock, small mammals, birds, and reptiles. We are a close knit team who are looking to teach and mentor those who are interested in working in this rewarding profession.

Internships are unpaid positions and require at least 32 hours a week for a minimum of 12 weeks. Interns will gain valuable experience while working with experienced Children’s Zoo keepers to learn aspects of zoo animal care such as animal husbandry, exhibit maintenance, enrichment, training, and public presentations. A strong passion for educating our guests about wildlife in a fun and friendly manner is a must. Interns are expected to work in all types of weather and must be able to lift, bend, and stoop. Applicants must also have current proof of a negative TB test. Start and end dates are flexible upon selection. No housing is provided.
