Director of Finance & Operations
Oversees the financial management of the Society including directing and managing the budget, financial reporting, forecasting and accounting. Manages business functions of Zoo including finance, inventory, human resources, and contracts. Devises strategies for improvement across departments and sets the rules, regulations and processes for employees and helps make company financial decisions on purchases and budgets. Oversees technological infrastructure requirements of the organization. Review processes and operations for efficiencies by integrating best practices and identifying opportunities for technological improvements. Directly supervises bookkeeper and works across departments to support visitor services staff, and safety functions. Assumes bookkeeper duties as needed. Reports to the Executive Director; prepares reports for, communicates with and interacts regularly with the board.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Previous experience managing all financial operations and overseeing organizational staff. Working knowledge of similar or related duties including bookkeeping, accounting, human resources, grant administration, and contract management. Must be able to communicate effectively and to make strategic decisions.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent of 5+ years of expereince; non-profit expereince is preferred. Master’s degree in finance, business administration or equivalent preferred.
