Zoo Administration Internship (Winter/Spring Semester)

This is a new internship for a student who is looking for an opportunity within a unique business environment. The Zoo Administrative Intern will report directly to the Zoo Director with the goal of creating several extensive reports to assess the profile of the Zoo within Tucson and the surrounding region.

Reid Park Zoo receives over half a million visitors each year making it the premiere destination for families within the Tucson metro region. The Zoo is centrally located on 24 acres within Reid Park. The Zoo is owned and operated by the City of Tucson with support from the Reid Park Zoological Society. The Zoo houses 400 animals from around the globe including a herd of African elephants, white rhinoceros, lion, grizzly bear, giant anteater, bearded barbet and much more. The Zoo features a diverse array of education programming and supports conservation projects on a global basis.

Duties will include: survey of visitors to make recommendations on the guest experience, feasibility and support of capital projects. Work with stakeholders to develop market focus groups. Assess zoo operations to look at potential revenue sources and attendance projections while assisting with special events.

Desired Qualifications: Motivated Self-Starter, ability to work at least 30-35 hours per week, proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint & Word, independent self-starter and current enrollment and a letter of endorsement from a University or College
