The Phoenix Zoo is currently seeking a full-time mechanic. Our mechanic will be expected to troubleshoot, diagnose and perform repairs and preventative maintenance on all Zoo gasoline vehicles; electric, propane and gasoline golf, utility carts; electric trams and coaches, maintenance on light and heavy equipment, such as forklifts, boom lifts backhoe, tractor, skid loaders, chainsaws, lawn mowers, gas blowers and pressure washers. This person will also be responsible for metal fabrication work and welding tasks, record-keeping with regards to work performed and parts/labor expenses, and maintaining cleanliness of our fleet and shop.
Minimum qualifications for this position include completion of accredited automotive technical school and 3 years practical experience or 5 years practical experience, ASE Certified, experience in diesel engine maintenance or diesel training, experience in arc and gas welding, knowledge in use of automatic diagnosis equipment, ability to read schematics, drawings and shop manuals, experience in electric vehicle maintenance, able to work varied work schedule, including weekends and some evenings, and possession of valid driver’s license. All Phoenix Zoo employees are required to pass pre-employment background screening including a drug test, this position will also require clear annual Tb testing.
This permanent position pays $19.23/hour to start and includes our full benefits package with medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, and generous paid time off.
