Today HSMO has three locations as well as its Longmeadow Rescue Ranch for horse and farm animal rehabilitation.  Under the direction of President Kathy Warnick, a leader in the humane field, HSMO is one of the country’s top five foremost humane societies with a budget of $18 million.  As an open admission agency, HSMO receives approximately 14,000 animals annually and places approximately 8,000 a year from its three shelters and off-site adoption programs.  Further, HSMO is designated by the state of Missouri as the lead animal welfare organization when disaster impacts animals.

Strong communication skills are also needed.  The ideal candidate will bring strong and successful leadership as a Director or Senior Manager of a humane society/animal control agency with multiple shelter sites or an agency with a large shelter. Experience in another animal related nonprofit will be considered.

A B.A. degree from a four-year college or university is necessary; or up to five to seven years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Evidence of a passionate commitment to the proper care of all animals is strongly needed.
