Audubon Nature Institute in New Orleans, LA, is seeking qualified candidates for the newly-created position of Vice President for Education. The Vice President for Education will lead comprehensive organization-wide educational initiatives that advance Audubon Nature Institute’s strategic vision for creating an engaging learning environment that encourages guests of all ages and backgrounds to appreciate the natural world and to preserve it for future generations. The Vice President will oversee education departments at Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, and Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium.

The Vice President will provide strategic direction for development and implementation of guest experiences and conservation education messages for all audiences through presentations, shows, chats, interpreted animal feedings, multi-media exhibits and festivals. S/he will provide direction for interpretive strategies for new exhibits and enhancements to existing exhibits. S/he will connect Audubon’s educational resources with local, state and national trends in STEM and life-long learning. S/he will oversee effective and efficient operations of all Audubon Nature Institute education departments.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with seven years or greater professional experience in informal/formal science, nature or environmental education in a zoo, aquarium, museum or related facility. S/he will have five years or greater supervisory experience, including a proven track record for effective employee relations, budget management, program development and evaluation, and grant development and administration. Classroom teaching experience is preferred. Educational requirements include an advanced degree in Environmental Education, Education, Biology (or other life science), or related field.
