Responsibilities: Ensure the physical and social well-being of the chimpanzees, gorillas and orangutans housed at the Jungle of the Apes and Fragile Forest. Sharp observation skills and knowledge of ape behavior needed to monitor individual and group dynamics; interest in positive reinforcement training required. Daily maintenance of all displays and support facilities; maintenance of accurate records; participation in written and oral interpretive programs; other tasks and duties as directed by supervisor. Must show equal ability to work independently or with a group.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in anthropology/primate biology, animal behavior, conservation biology or another animal-related field preferred. Primate keeper experience required, ape experience preferred. Good writing and speaking skills a plus. Must have the physical ability to perform required duties as assigned, including standing for long periods of time, lifting, bending and working in all types of weather conditions. All successful candidates for this position will be required to submit to a criminal background check and drug test.
