Essential Job FunctionsGreet guests, vendors, and service personnel in a pleasant and professional manner while on the phone and in person. Answers multi-line phone system. Distribute incoming calls to the appropriate Zoo personal. Providing callers with accurate information about the Zoos and Zoos operations is essential. Information may include but is not limited to: operating hours, scheduled events, directions and general inquiries. Administrative tasks include operating a two-way radio, taking messages for Zoo personnel, processing outgoing mail – receive and distribute incoming mail, receive incoming faxes and accept job applications from walk-in applicants. Accept and coordinate lost & found articles with the Security Department. Follow the proper communication protocol during dangerous animal escapes and lost child incidents. Duties & Responsibilities•Greet guests, vendors and service personnel in a pleasant and professional manner. Answer guests questions or direct them to the appropriate Zoo personnel or resource.•In a pleasant and professional manner, answer incoming calls, which may require giving specific and general information pertaining to the Zoos operations, exhibit information, programs, activities and events. Some calls may require providing callers as well as walk-ins with directions to the Franklin Park and Stone Zoos as well as MBTA information if applicable. Transferring calls to the appropriate internal and external department(s) is an essential function of this position.•Page Zoo personnel when appropriate to relay relevant messages via two-way radio system.
