The Charles Paddock Zoo and the City of Atascadero have a Zookeeper I open position.
The position: Will work under the limited supervision of the Senior Keeper. Performs a wide variety of routine animal care and welfare duties, as well as a variety of facility and exhibit maintenance tasks to include feeding, cleaning of exhibits, performing routine animal husbandry, an other keeper maintenance duties.
Qualifications: Graduation from a standard senior high school or GED equivalent, and one year paid experience or training and/or education to demonstrate abilities essential to the performance of the position. General knowledge of animal behavior, care, feeding, and safe handling of wild animals or Animal Biology, Zoology studies, restraint and/or capture techniques for wild animals. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a competent performance of the responsibilities outlined. Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, ability to lift at least (50) fifty pounds. Ability to work weekends and holidays, as well as relief coverage.
