Under minimal supervision, procures and maintains the required federal, state, and local permits for the maintenance and transport of wildlife in accordance with regulations. Coordinates and directs the collection and maintenance of the animal inventory including recording daily transactions of births, deaths, acquisitions and dispositions, behavioral, reproductive, and medical notes and enters this data on software ISIS/ZIMS; maintains logs and ledger on acquisitions and de-accessions, assigns local ids, etc.; maintains current annual inventory and publishes annually. Acts as liaison to International Species Information Systems (ISIS), also acts as liaison between the Zoo and outside organizations and zoos as well as in-house liaison between departments. Prepares paperwork for shipments, health certificates, USDA forms, veterinary pre-shipment forms, animal data transfer forms, and disseminates to appropriate curators, veterinarians, keepers and/or institutions. Procures and maintains the required federal, state, and local permits for the maintenance and transport of wildlife in accordance with regulations and laws; files annual reports and renews permits and licenses as needed. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field, a minimum of one year of experience working with the laws regulating animal acquisition, disposition, exhibition and other related areas; may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
