Internship Opportunity-Zoo Miami Ectotherm Department (Unpaid)

Zoo Miami is currently offering internship opportunities within the Ectotherm Department. We are seeking candidates who are pursuing a career within the zoo profession. Interns will work along side keeper staff to learn daily husbandry, dietary preparation, and exhibit maintenance of fish, invertebrates, amphibians, and reptiles. Prior animal related experience with ectotherms is preferred. Candidates must commit to a 20 hour workweek for a minimum of 12 weeks and adhere to a mutually agreed upon work schedule set forth by the department. Internships begin September 2013.


Must pass a background check

18 years or older

Ability to speak, write, read and communicate effectively.

Must have at least two years towards a college degree in the following fields, Biology, Zoology, Wildlife and Fisheries, Animal Sciences, Pre-Vet or related field.

Negative TB test

Able to follow all Zoo Miami policies and procedures

Must work all holidays and weekends as necessary

Interns should be prepared to work in all weather conditions and must be extremely dependable.
