Essential Job Functions:The Manager of Annual Giving and Development Operations is responsible, under the supervision of the Vice President of Development, for the strategic execution and management of a comprehensive annual giving program. This will include identification, cultivation and solicitation of current donors and prospects with the purpose of securing new, renewed and increased support for Zoo New England’s annual fund. In addition, the Manager will foster the implementation of best practices in the supporting areas of gift processing, data management and donor relations, utilizing the Raiser’s Edge software program. The Manager will also demonstrate an appreciation for the foundation of annual giving as an essential component of major and gift planning programs. The Manager will develop communication and solicitation strategies involving email, social media, direct mail, phone/mail, personal visitation and volunteer engagement, all focused on building a strong, renewed and sustainable tradition of annual support for the Zoos. Additionally, the Manager will be responsible for the creation of a matching gift program, as a component of annual giving.Duties & Responsibilities:• Determine collaboratively with VP of Development, Development officers, and CEO, as necessary, annual giving goals for the Zoos, and build strategic and tactical plans for achieving these goals. • Oversee all annual giving including developing programs for segmented populations including: new members, seniors, LYBUNTS, as well as perform report writing and generation, gift processing, donor stewardship, and all additional aspects of the maintenance of the Raiser’s Edge software. • Work effectively with administrators, trustees, and staff in order to gain strong participation in annual giving and inspire donors to higher giving levels.• Manage a prospect pool with annual goals for personal visits and giving outcomes. • Create, develop and execute a highly effective and sustainable volunteer component within annual giving.• Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Development. Performance Measures• Measurable increase in donations from prior fiscal year annual fund solicitations. • Success in maintaining accuracy of database records. • Accuracy of fundraising and constituent reports. • Success in coordinating the production of direct mail appeals.Minimum Job Requirements:• Bachelor's degree required.• Minimum of three years' experience working with a successful annual fund team.• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.• Strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.• Excellent skill and understanding of computer and particularly, Raiser’s Edge required.• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.• Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends, as required• Understanding of database management, gift processing and donor relations.• Ability to listen carefully to and understand prospect needs, both internally and externally, and proactively respond to those needs in a consistent, respectful, responsible and timely manner.• Demonstrated analytical and fund raising skills with the ability to recognize opportunities, identify high value activities and prioritize them to attain goals.• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and external e-mail programs.Location: Franklin Park Zoo – BostonSalary: Please submit your salary requirementsPlease submit your application:- via email, as MS Word attachment, to jobs@zoonewengland.com, yet please ensure to state the title of the position in the subject line.- Or fax your application to: 617-445-1671- By mail to Office of Human Resources, Zoo New England, One Franklin Park Rd, Boston, MA. 02121No Phone Calls Please.
