Our educational programs are expanding, and we have an opening for an experienced wildlife handler / educator to join our dedicated team of professionals.
You must excel in teaching children and have a passion for caring for and forming hands-on relationships with a wide range of non-releasable wildlife.
Responsibilities include animal husbandry, training and enrichment and being a part of our educational team. We have a rich 32 year history of teaching 300,000 students and adults annually in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. The position also assists with our programs for at-risk youth, our professional development courses for school teachers, and our exciting adult classes.
You must be a positive, motivated, flexible, experienced and adaptable person who enjoys working as part of a dedicated team that is making positive changes in the community. Strong public speaking, communication and teaching skills (especially with children) are essential.
This is not an entry level position. Only qualified applicants should apply. A college degree and at least 2 years paid hands on experience in the field is required. Three or more years of experience is preferred. Physical requirements: ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and have the ability to work both indoors and outdoors while maintaining wildlife habitats. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable safety record and a background check is required.
