Elephant Manager

This is a field supervisory position responsible for the elephant department and the keepers assigned to the area. This position performs zookeeper duties but also supervises and trains keeper staff on husbandry, operant conditioning, nutrition, behavior, enrichment, area maintenance and staff scheduling. This position is responsible for maintaining area protocols and records on all aspects of elephant management to meet AZA and USDA requirements.

Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Valid driver’s license. Three years of experience working with elephants at a zoological park are required. Must be able to work a varying work schedule to include days, nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to perform heavy manual labor and pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug test.

Supervisory experience and a degree in one of the biological sciences is preferred. Proficiency in outlook, excel, word, adobe and power point are also preferred.

Salary range is $34,510 - $54,798 per year with an excellent benefit package.
