The Oregon Coast Aquarium is currently seeking an Education Specialist. The Education Specialist develops and implements both formal (academic) and informal public programs at the Aquarium such as academic lab programs, week-long outreach (including overnight travel), sleepover programs, summer day camps, preschool programs, home school programs, guest interpretive presentations, adult volunteer training and teacher professional development.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in education, natural science, or a closely related field is required. Two years experience in education program development, instruction, interpretation, and/or outreach required. Experience working in a museum, zoo or aquarium preferred. Knowledge and experience in both formal and informal education pedagogy and best practices preferred. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication, as well as organizational skills, is required. Ability to speak Spanish preferred, but not required. Animal handling skills preferred, but not required.
Must be able to work weekends, nights, and/or holidays. The ability to gain and hold an Oregon driver’s license is required. This is a full-time position with benefits.
