Animal Keeper - Bird Department

The Tulsa Zoo is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable individual to work in the Bird Department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing animal care, daily cleaning of exhibits, diet preparation, general maintenance, designing and constructing exhibits for a diverse collection of birds, propagation, and monitors incubation of eggs. Position may evolve to include some work with mammals. The candidate will also be able to deal courteously and effectively with the public at all times.

Candidates will maintain good time management, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to work alone or in a team setting. They will also be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. They will be open to new ideas and approaches, initiative, planning, and organization; flexible and adaptable; follow instructions; seeking additional training and development.

This position is full-time with benefits. Starting pay is $12.48/hr

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Biology, Zoology, Animal Science, Environmental Resources, Wildlife Management, or a related field and at least six months of exotic animal experience. Experience with mammals a plus. Will consider substituting training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities for educational requirements.
