The Greensboro Science Center will be accepting applications for summer internship opportunities. Internships should start approximately June 1st and end approximately August 31st. Interns will assist keeper staff in all aspects of daily animal husbandry and care. Experiences will include daily observations, cleaning of exhibit and holding spaces, daily diet preparation, implementing enrichment, preventive health care, and observing and assisting in husbandry training. Interns should expect to work on a particular string but species of care may include Maned wolves, Giant anteater, wallabies, domestic hoofstock, coatis, lemurs, and/or tamandua. Interns will be expected to work a typical 40 hr/week 5 day/week schedule. Qualifications should include college level schooling in the biological sciences and 6 mos related animal care experience. Preference will be given to senior level or recent college graduates pursuing zookeeping as a career. Interested candidates must also be able to lift 50 lbs and be able to perform physical work outside in varied weather conditions. In addition, interns must have proof of a current TB test.
