Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ), a nonprofit member organization located at the Smithsonian’s National Zoological Park, is seeking an outgoing, responsible, friendly, and mature individual with excellent interpersonal skills to assist the Human Resources team with general administrative tasks, such as greeting visitors, answering phones, assisting with new hire orientation and finger printing, creating and maintaining personnel and benefits files and basic database entry. The incumbent will also complete employment verifications, respond to employee inquiries and process invoices.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, initiative, and possess the ability to deal courteously and efficiently with all staff. Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills, and a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. ADP payroll experience preferred. Prior office experience preferred. High School diploma required; a college degree is preferred. The candidate must work well independently and in a team environment, while dealing with frequent deadlines and multiple priorities.
