The Animal Trainer and Presenter II conducts entertaining and educational programs for our guests with live animals. The position participates in the effective training of birds and mammals for public shows and demonstrations; conducts animal shows for the public in a professional way that speaks to expert animal handling, training skills and stage presence, and participates in the routine husbandry of the program collection. With the rest of the team and where appropriate, the trainer will develop animal shows, new programs and scripts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Education or related field or commensurate experience in related field.

•Previous experience with animal training, especially birds, and doing public demonstrations.

•Proven ability to train and handle all collection animals for shows/demonstrations, husbandry/medical procedures or other appropriate behaviors.

•Excellent public speaking skills and stage presence while working with animals and performing for the public.

•Ability to perform as a strong team player.

•Ability to perform to a high standard with tight and demanding time schedules.
