The Oregon Zoo is seeking a progressive leader with a proven track record overseeing maintenance and building operations on its 64-acre, multi-facility campus with diverse systems and operations. Using sustainable business practices, this position oversees all facility and infrastructure maintenance and is responsible for managing the maintenance and repair labor, materials and equipment. Areas of emphasis include preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, small scale renovation projects, as well as the safety aspects of all division work. Coordination with other zoo divisions is essential for efficient and effective outcomes.

This position supervises 11 staff comprised of technical and trade positions, including an electrician, HVAC technician, automotive specialist and lead maintenance. Supervision of this area requires a proactive, motivated individual with experience managing people and projects in a large dynamic campus environment.

This position provides direction and expertise in varied scale maintenance initiatives with diverse stakeholders in a unique and challenging environment. Additional responsibilities include assistance in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets, contract administration, developing of short and long-range plans, and goals and objectives for infrastructure and facilities maintenance. The person in this position will also be a contributor in design teams for capital improvements.

Minimum Requirements:

Some specialized training and knowledge beyond the high school level in facility management and a minimum of two years of experience in maintenance supervision, including experience managing in an environment with multiple facilities and grounds accessible by the public; or any combination of experience and education that provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job. Requires a valid driver's license. Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in facilities maintenance or management preferred.
