The Miami Science Museum is a not-for-profit organization currently completing the construction of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science; a 250,000 square-foot complex structured around an indoor and outdoor “living core” of terrestrial and aquatic spaces, featuring a 600,000 gallon aquarium facility, a full dome 3-D planetarium, hands-on exhibits, cutting edge technology and two additional wings of exhibition space, classrooms and cafes.

As such, the Museum seeks to fill the position of Director of Facilities. The Director of Facilities will work directly with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer and other members of the Museum Team to ensure the overall maintenance of the current physical museum facility. Simultaneously, this position will be responsible for planning and oversight of the New Museum facility’s various electrical, HVAC, mechanical and biological life support system installations and commissioning. This position will supervise and effectively deploy the current Facilities Team including Maintenance Technicians and Custodians and plan for the transition to the New Museum currently under construction. The Director of Facilities is responsible for coordinating all Emergency/Disaster planning and Museum Safety/Security planning, and preventative maintenance efforts.

An ideal candidate for this position will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field and will possess 8 to 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 of those years at a supervisory level. Experience working with process piping systems and project management software is necessary. The selected candidate will also have the ability to work in a fast paced environment while managing several complex efforts simultaneously. He/she will own superior oral & written communication skills in both English & Spanish to impart information to contractors, team members, and all others involved.

Compensation for this position will be commensurate with experience and will include a generous benefits package. The position requires relocation to Miami, FL.
