SUMMARY STATEMENT: The Audio Visual Technician is responsible for installing and repairing AV equipment and related wiring throughout the building and grounds for theaters, exhibits, functions, and special events. S/he will maintain quality operation of AV related exhibits, equipment, and services for visitors, guests, and staff. S/he will instruct other technicians in the set up and operation of audio visual equipment. S/he will assist with the development and production of technical components and materials within exhibits. Lastly, s/he will assist with the development of AV related media for functions and events. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Daily set up and operation of audio visual related equipment. • Provide technical support for events, functions and other Museum activities. • Oversee the installation, maintenance and repair of A/V equipment throughout the museum. • Train staff and interns in audio visual operations. • 40 hour work week including one weekend day, some holidays and overtime as required. • Recommend and purchases equipment, shop stock and supplies as required. WORK SCHEDULE: This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Tuesday-Saturday. REPORTS TO: Manager, Exhibit Production & Maintenance MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Post high school course work, technical degree, associates degree or business certificate preferred. • More than 3 years of A/V experience. STARTING SALARY: Non-Exempt (Hourly). Commensurate with experience.
