Job Summary: Hands-on leadership responsibilities in animal care and exhibit maintenance of fish & invertebrate, reptiles and amphibian collection while adhering to AZA requirements and documentation. Oversee and conduct medical issues dealing with fish, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years professional experience in fish and invertebrate husbandry and exhibition in an aquarium setting or 5 years equivalent experience. Leadership & management experience with strong teamwork, communication skills both written and verbal, organization of skills and attention to detail. Must possess a high-energy work ethic and a positive attitude.
Responsibilities:
*Coordinate with veterinary and F&I staff for scheduling and staffing of routine and special veterinary procedures, including necropsies.
*Work with staff to assess medical situations as they occur and communicate them to the vet staff.
*Help manage and maintain the reptile and amphibian animal collection including medical procedures.
*Work with staff to ensure that Medical Procedural Changes are completed.
*Participate in the development and implementation of husbandry procedures, techniques and practices.
*Assist quarantine aquarist develop and recommend quarantine procedures to veterinary staff and ensure that they are followed.
*Frequent scuba diving in all types of varying conditions (must be Scuba certified).
*Maintain and advance assigned gallery exhibits (coverage)
